Abstract

Lightweight re-usable stackable crate for fruit and vegetables, of thermoplastic material pref. high-density polyethylene or polypropylene, comprises four vertical reinforced columns between which extend six horizontal webs. The four side walls comprise vertical webs between which are vertical bars fixed to the inner surfaces of at least four of the horizontal webs and having an inwardly rounded cross-section and reduced spacing. All the bars closest to the counter web with sharp angles which is associated with each vertical web just after moulding, are profiled and reinforced so as to prevent contact between the contents of the crate and these counter-webs. The crate has a flexible inwardly curved base fixed to the columns and side walls and consisting of longitudinal and transverse webs supporting a film which is reinforced at points and has apertures. The base is surrounded by a peripheral vertical web for centering during stacking.
