Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'une fibre optique. Il consiste à exécuter une opération de dépôt de vapeur chimique au cours de laquelle des substances de départ en phase gazeuse sont oxydées pour former une suie sur un support de verre et à vitrifier la suie déposée sur le substrat dans une atmosphère d'un gaz inerte qui se dissout facilement dans le verre. La suie contient du bioxyde de silicium, un premier dopant qui en augmente l'indice de réfraction et un second dopant qui réduit sa température de vitrification L'invention s'applique à la fabrication des fibres optiques pour les télécommunications.
