Abstract

L'invention décrit des colorants azoïques pouvant servir à l'affichage au moyen de cristaux liquides. Ce sont des composés azoïques présentant un rapport pléochroïque a1 /a 2 d'au moins 6,5, dont l'absorption est maximale entre 350 et 700 nm et qui sont stables jusqu'à 100 degrés C à l'égard de variations de la tension et à l'égard de la lumière. Incorporés ou inclus à des composés nématiques présentant une anisotropie diélectrique positive, ils permettent de donner, avec incorporation d'un additif optiquement actif, des masses de cristaux liquides pouvant servir pour des affichages.
