Abstract

Bottle cap of resilient metal or synthetic material comprises a dished top bordered by a hollow circular groove which resiliently grips the outer flange of the bottleneck. The skirt has a flexible peripheral annular zone which is turned perpendicularly outwards, while the groove is discontinued at spaced points by recesses which open out directly into the annular zone. The cap is pref. made from non-vinyl material resistant to heating, while a liquid or pasty vinyl film with which the top of the cap is covered is heated during passage through an electronic field to developing and polymerisation temp. of the extending agent contained in it. This forms a flexible cellular seal.
