Abstract

The solar heating system uses collector panels with two sheets of glass (2, 17) with spaces top and bottom to allow air to circulate to the interior of the panel. Behind the glass is an absorbant surface (3) consisting of expanded metal which can be black. The circulating air passes through the screen and finally travels through a slot across the top of the housing (10) to enter the room. This air may be conveyed through a heat pump which includes a heat accumulator which has a series of collector channels in a zig-zag arrangement between brick walls. The heat exchanger incorporates a refrigeration systems for use as an evaporator in a cooling system in summer.
