Abstract
Large food shops require a refrigeration plant in order to keep display cabinets at a low temperature. Such a refrigeration plant can be used to supply heat to the building in winter time. the compressor (1) pumps the refrigerant through an air cooled condenser (2). the refrigerant then passes through liquid receiver (3) and to the evaporator in the cold cabinet. A heat exchanger (5) is fitted between the compressor (1) and the condenser (2). The heat in the refrigerant heats the circulating water which is then supplied to the heating system of the building (6). Thus heat which would otherwise be rejected to the atmosphere is utilised.
