Abstract

The beam path of a colour television cathode-ray tube is adjusted by a magnetic module with two opposite toroidal magnets mounted on the circumference of the tube neck. The flux density of the magnet on the input side of the electron beam is greater than that of the magnet on the output side. Preferably the density difference is 10 to 30%. Each magnet is typically of barium ferrite, and the two magnets are mounted opposite each other with intermediate non-magnetic spacers in between. The colour cathode-ray tube is of inline type. If permanent magnets are used, they are so magnetised that poles of alternating polarity appear along their circumference. In such case each magnet has a radially extending lug.
