Abstract

1,242,957. Colour television tubes. RANK ORGANISATION Ltd. 6 May, 1970 [14 May, 1969], No. 24534/69. Heading H1D. [Also in Divisions H3-H5] Correction of the shapes of the rasters produced by three guns in a colour television tube is achieved by means of three electromagnets 5-7, Fig. 3, co-operating respectively with internal polepieces associated with the electron guns 2-4, movable magnetic shunts 9 and 10 being provided to distort the field, and the "blue" magnet 5 is connected in series with the deflecting yoke which comprises two coils in parallel, the magnets 6 and 7 being connected in series with each other and with one of the two coils. A resistance capacity network may be connected in parallel with the magnet 5 and a further network in parallel with the series combination of magnets 6 and 7 (Fig. 2, not shown). The shunts 9 and 10 may be of paramagnetic or of diamagnetic material and may be tapered at their ends (Fig. 1, not shown); they are adjustable both longitudinally and circumferentially and a single shunt 10 suffices for both the "red" and the "green" magnets.
