Abstract
573,032. Cathode-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Sept. 24, 1943, No. 15740. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] A cathode-ray deflecting system comprises a rectangular ferromagnetic frame 21 having a first pair of coils 22 and 23 surrounding parallel legs and extending substantially the entire length thereof, and a second pair of coils 32 and 33 are provided on the remaining two legs of the frame abutting against the surfaces of the first pair of coils and having extra end turns 29<1> and 30'. These extra turns have the effect of reducing distortion of the magnetic field over the area through which the scanning beam passes. The extra turns may be wound in one with the rest of its coil or may form a separate spool as shown. The coils are connected to have the polarities shown. The unit may be assembled from two L-shaped portions on which coils have been placed by staggering the ends of the laminations of each portion so that they may dovetail together.
