Abstract

The motorised chain saw has a drive chain wheel driven by a safety intermediate coupling, with a switch unit for this, moved to the disengaging position by an activating member. A carriage moves between the two switch positions to connect the intermediate coupling components. There is a further revolution rate dependent coupling with a drum with a brake unit in conjunction with it. The brake band encompasses the coupling drum. The band and the switch unit are mounted with one end on a common retainer, held in its rest position by the activating member against spring force, and let into a release position, by spring force, to release the brake band and disengage the switch.
