Abstract

A surgical dressing is formed from a nonwoven fabric formed by needling a fibre mat. The fabric may contain 20-30% polyester and 80-70% viscose fibres, pref. permeable to air, and is pref. dyed a flesh colour. The weight of the fabric may be 100-200 gm/m2 and the thickness may be 0.5-1.50 mm. Pref. the fabric has the capability to absorb 100-250% by weight of water. The fabric may be backed by a cotton wool pad and may be carried by an adhesive support.
