Abstract

The end of yarn from the spool is threaded through the shank of double twister spindle, by feeding a compressed gas along an axial bore from below through the spindle. The bore opens out obliquely to the spindle circumference at the level of the outlet for the thread from the upper end of the spindle, into a guide channel much larger in diameter than the outlet for the thread, so as to create a suction in the spindle bore. The gas used is air, and fixed lines with valves and connections beneath the spindle brackets are provided so that compressed air is immediately available when required. The threading of the yarn down the bore of the spindle and out through the support dish takes an appreciable time whether the end is drawn through by a probe or sucked by a bellows. Previous devices for injecting air across the bore at the base of the spindle to suck the thread through, have the objections of complicated and expensive design.
