Abstract
The battery consists of a reservoir of liquid electrolyte (6) connected via a distribution pipe to tubes (8) extending down axially into each cell such that electrolyte enters at the bottom of that cell. The cells are contained in separate housings (2, 3) within a common housing (1). Air is removed from the cells via a collection channel (9) connected to each cell chamber (4). The collection channel is linked to evacuation nipples and valves outside the main common housing. The evacuation channel consists of several sections of channel each located inside a cell and joining with its neighbour.
