Abstract

Epitrochoidal piston I.C. engine has a control pinion (1) arranged at the side (3) of the engine casing opposite the side (4) at which the flywheel (12) is situated. The flywheel-supporting end portion (11) of the eccentric shaft (5) of the engine has a greater diameter than the other end portion and centres the flywheel. The flywheel covers the end face of the shaft and is secured thereto by screws (14) arranged on a pitch circle around the rotational axis (13) of the shaft, the diameter of the pitch circle being sufficiently large to leave a central space for a spigot bearing (15) for centering the engine output shaft. The arrangement simplifies flywheel assembly.
