Abstract

1407107 Meshing screw compressors KUHLAUTOMAT VEB 29 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 40592/73 Heading F1F The clearance 1 between the screw rotor 2 and the casing 3 of a meshing screw compressor is adjusted by axially displacing a bearing assembly 4, 5, 6, 10 fixed to the rotor's shaft, the bearing assembly being held in its adjusted position within the casing 3 by bolts 8 which draw the sleeve 5 of the assembly into abutment with a ring 9 screwed into a ring 7 fixed to the casing 3. During adjustment the ring 9 is screwed away from the bearing sleeve 5 and the bolts 8 are tightened until the clearance 1 disappears. The ring 9 is then screwed into abutment with the sleeve 5 whereafter the bolts 8 are loosened. Finally the ring 9 is screwed in by an amount equal to the desired clearance 1, the bolts 8 are re-tightened and a cover 14 is secured in position by nuts 12, 13.
