Abstract

1391144 Axial-flow compressors BROWN BOVERI-SULZER TURBOMACHINERY Ltd 20 Aug 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 39313/73 Heading F1C [Also in Division F2] An axial-flow compressor comprises a stator blade support 1 radially centred in a casing 2 as by an annular projection 3 and a collar 7, a rotor 12 which can be radially centred in the stator blade support by means of bearings 13, and a labyrinth seal 15 between the casing and rotor, the parts 20, 21 of the seal carried by the casing being mounted by means, such as shim blocks 22, permitting radial adjustment. The parts 20, 21 of the labyrinth seal are bolted to the casing 2 by bolts 25 with the inter-position of a shim 26, the shim blocks 22 each being provided with a shim 24 and secured to the associated part 20, 21 by screws. Coarse adjustment of the bearings 13 may be effected by shims while fine adjustment is effected by the bearings themselves.
