Abstract

1389623 Axial-flow compressors BROWN BOVERI-SULZER TURBOMACHINERY Ltd 3 July 1973 [13 July 1972] 31740/73 Heading F1C The stator blades of an axial-flow compressor are adjusted by an axially-movable cylinder 7 which is mounted in the compressor casing 1 by means of rods 8 carried in bearings 3 permitting longitudinal and rotational movement but restraining radial movement and, on the other side of the cylinder, by means of bars 9 carried in bearing means 4, 5 permitting longitudinal and radial movement, whereby thermal expansion of the cylinder relative to the casing is accommodated. Self-lubricating bearing liners 13, e.g. of plastics or carbon, are provided either on the parts 3, 4, 5 as shown or on the rods 8 and bars 9. The rods 8 and bars 9 may be mounted on the casing 1, the parts 3, 4, 5 then being mounted on the cylinder 7.
