Abstract
Belts consisting of elastomer material contg. 2 reinforcing sheets of nonwoven filaments, e.g. of nylon, are produced by (a) applying a joining device over (some of) the filaments of the sheets to form a localised joint connecting together the sheets in their relative positions required in the final belt, and (b) vulcanising the assembled belt. Pref. the filaments of each sheet are coated with a binder, e.g. plasticised PVC, before the application of the joining device. Enables the reinforcing sheets to be accurately positioned in the finished belt. The components can be rapidly assembled and vulcanised to give high quality belts.
