Abstract
The flipper is used for underwater swimming and has a large rigid propelling surface (5). This is made from glass or carbon fibres embedded in a synthetic resin. The fibres are in layers, three in number and parallel to each other; each upper layer is staggered back from that below, the surface increasing in thickness towards the back. Stiffener grooves (10,11) are provided in the surface and the back of the rigid surface is fixed into a slot in the flexible moulded rubber base (1). Two forward projecting arms (3,4) position the surface, which extends (6) underneath the cavity provided for the wearer's foot.
