Abstract

Side plates (16,18) welded between the rim (14) and hub (12) form a hollow ring shaped chamber, and a hardening material (25) is injected into this space. Stiffeners (22) extending radially from the hub give a more rigid construction, and a plug (24) through a side plate enables the material to be injected. The injecter material can be a liquid with a viscosity of at least 10 cp at 60 deg.F. A quantity is injected, sufficient to form a lining (21) all over the inside of the chamber, leaving an empty core (28). Alternatively, a liquid completely filling the chamber can be injected.
