Abstract

A jockey wheel for the endless chain of a tracked vehicle, designed for noise reduction, consists of two side plates welded between a rim and a hub to form a hollow ring shaped chamber. This is then filled with a flowing material, particularly sand. This sand can be compacted to make a solid core. The rigidity of the wheel is increased by stiffeners extending radially from the hub, between the side plates. Lugs on the ends of the stiffeners can project through slots around the side plates. There are filling holes around the side plates for entry of the sand, and plugs are afterwards fitted in these holes.
