Abstract

A plastic shotgun cartridge is made by injection moulding, the end cap first being moulded, then the cylindrical sleeve being injection moulded onto it. The end cap has an inwardly projecting truncated conical portion with a tapered ring shaped chamber between its outside face and the sloping inside face of the end cap, into which is injected the material forming the end of the sleeve. Openings communicate between this chamber and the outside face of the end cap, so that material can travel through them during the injection of the sleeve material, to key onto the end face. The truncated conical portion may be hollow, with a projection for retaining the percussion charge.
