Abstract

Resistor compsn. consists of a conductor (I), glass and opt. insulating or semiconducting metal oxide (II) in a vehicle with a constant (I)/glass or (I)/glass (II) wt. ratio, the resistance value being adjusted by varying the total surface area of (I), glass and opt. (II) without changing the temp. coefft. of resistance (TCR). The compsn. has excellent (low) TCR and resistances from ohms to Mohms can be obtd. easily. The total surface area or ratio of the specific surface areas of the components can be varied. E.g. 1, 10 and 80 ohm/aq. resistors with TCR values of +300, +290 and +305 ppm/degrees C were obtd. by varying the specific surface area of Ag, RuO2 and glass in compsns. of constant wt. ratio.
