Abstract

A continuous process is used for making precast concrete, e.g. plaster with lightweight aggregate building wall panels. The mix is poured into a vertical shaft with its sides formed by endless belts (12, 14, 15). The forming belt faces move in the descending direction. The shaft cross-section conforms to that of the product panel, with a breadth of several times the slab thickness. The vertical shaft length ensures that the concrete has set by the time the panel sections reach the base. There may be guide plates (22) behind the forming belts. The guides may be used for heating, cooling and/or vibration. Paper (40) and reinforcing tissue (44) liners may be introduced at the shaft inlet. An illuminated barrier may be used to gauge concrete quantities.
