Abstract

The wad is for fitting between the powder charge of a cartridge and the shot, being of flexible material impervious to the explosive gases. It is in two or more parts (2,3) having surfaces (5,10) by which they fit together, thus forming at the centre of the wad an internal sealed chamber (11) filled with gas. The two parts can be in the form of male and female cups with screw threads by which they fit together. The thread can be formed by undulations in the sidewalls, which are of constant thickness.
