Abstract

The smoke-generating rifle grenade is fired with ball ammunition, the charge being of compressed tubular material of high mechanical strength and includes a bullet trap. The trap is formed by the smoke-generating charge itself, the hole in which can be of slightly smaller calibre than the bullet, typically between 0.8 and 0.9 times the latter. A stack of compressed components can be used, the dia. of the holes in them decreasing in the bullet travel direction. A device using conventional gas can also be incorporated in the grenade.
