Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a chaff bullet, in which a shooting unit is arragned between the propelling unit and chaff cartridge so as to make the most efficient use of pressure developed by shooting powder, whereby it is enabled to detach the chaff cartridge from the shooting unit in reliable manner. CONSTITUTION:When propelling unit d of a chaff bullet is ignited, it is shot into the air and travels to an aimed place. Then, propelling unit D ignites shooting powder 35 by the aid of firing wire 37, whereby shooting unit C is set into operation and its combustion gas is filled in the vicinity of a fixing member 32 in the outer sleeve F of chaff bullet. By the pressure of the combustion gas, chaff cartridge A, capsule E coupled with the chaff cartridge A and chaff cartridge igniting unit B are detached from the propelling unit D and shot away therefrom. On the other hand, firing wire 31 is ignited by the shooting unit C, and powder 30, igniting powder 26 and time delaying powder 25 are ignited successively. After passing of a predeermined time period, powder 6 is exploded and high-temperature and high pressure gas is filled in the outer sleeve 2. When the pressure in the outer sleeve 2 exceeds a certain level, outer sleeve 2 is ruptured and chaffs are scattered uniformly in every direction and in a wide range.
