Abstract

High-power, high-precision, finned projectile for hunting weapon has a cross-section smaller than that of the barrel in which it is to be used, and is guided within the barrel by an expanded polystyrene sabot disposed around the projectile and conforming to the barrel. The sabot consists of >=3 combined parts, pref. a mass of expanded polystyrene fragmented into four parts which guide the projectile as far as the outlet of the barrel. The sabots and the projectile itself may alternatively be made of any known material. The cartridge pref. also comprises an explosive charge a sealing ring, packing of reduced size, and a cap of flexible plastic material.
