Abstract

Method for testing the switching capacity of switchgear, with a heavy current source at a lower voltage than the nominal rating of the appliance to be tested, in which at the nominal voltage of the appliance (5) the maximum arc distance is first determined with the contacts (5a, 5b) separated; after which the contacts are bridged by a link (6) and the appliance is connected to the heavy current source (1) by means of a switch (3) in a direct switching-on test. The heavy current source can operate at some 20-30 kV for an EHT switch test.
