Abstract

The stud for a vehicle tyre comprises a body (11) in which is set an insert (10), the insert having a ramped periphery for gripping the body. The exterior surface of the body in the region which houses, the stud is frustoconical, there being an undercut portion (17) forming a foot (16) which preferably has a diameter greater than or equal to the maximum diameter of the frusto conical portion. The half angle (A) of the frusto conical portion is preferably in the range 5 deg.-15 deg., and the body may be formed of a heat resistant plastic moulding or a metal alloy. The insert may be formed of tungsten carbide.
