Abstract
The fuel tap (1) has a cylindrical body housing a plug (3) provided with a circumferential O-ring (26). A second O-ring (5) fits over the end surface of the inlet (10) when the tap is closed. A crescent shaped recess (6) in the plug (3) connects the inlet and outlet when the plug (3) is rotated to the open position. The outer edge of the joint face of the plug is provided with crenellations which match similar ones in the body of the valve. When the plug (3) is rotated by the handle (22) the crenellations impart an axial motion which prevents chafing of the O-ring (5) on the edge of the inlet hole. The spring (25) exerts the necessary sealing force when the tap is closed.
