Abstract

The valve stem (1) terminates with a flat face connected to the stem by a convex shoulder (2). The detachable flat valve head (4) fits over the stem and the centre terminates with a surface which mates with the stem shoulder. The bore extension (3) houses a sealing plug (7) and a spring tensioning device (6) to hold the valve head tightly against the stem head. The valve head may pivot slightly to align itself with the valve seat (8) due to the spherical mating surfaces of the shoulder (2) and the valve head. The sealing plug has a threaded annular surface which screws into the tapped opening of the valve head.
