Abstract
The stator of an electric machine has a box core with magnetic steel end plates that press the core laminae together via non-magnetic steel fingers. These pressure fingers (6) are located in grooves (7) in the plates (5). The grooves extend radially with respect to the stator axis (1). The arrangement reduces the height of the compressing devices (plates and fingers) and thereby reduces the size of the stator core and winding. The overhang of the stator winding bars can be reduced by 100 to 120 mm, which also increases efficiency and reduces materials costs.
