Abstract

The tachogenerator, for controlling a synchronous machine commutating thyristors, has a circular conducting disc (5) fixed eccentrically to the machine shaft (6) and passing between a static transformer primary and secondary halves. The primary half has a ferrite core (1) with a primary winding (3) set into one face, and the secondary half consists of another ferrite core (2) with a secondary winding (4) also set into it. The rotating disc produces an output voltage that is roughly sinusoidal -- having two alternations per revolution. A greater number of alternations per revolution can be obtained by using a disc with more than one obe.
