Abstract

An electric contact breaker has a very sensitive release for use in opening a circuit when there is accidental earth leakage. The contact breaker has an automatix release and a sensitive device to initiate the release. These can be part of a bipolar differential contact breaker. The automatic release has an electromagnetic relay (34). The relay (31) has an actuating plate (37) which can have one of two positions, a reset position and a release position. A differential transformer (30) is used to detect a difference in electric current between two lines. In its release position, the relay (31) actuates a sliding push rod (45) which moves a stop (B) and releases the breaker. Resetting of the relay (31) is made by a push-botton (E) which pushes a rod (50) to return the plate (37) of the relay (31) in its reset position.
