Abstract
The electrical contact-breaker has an operating lever, a switch mechanism, fixed and moving contacts, a thermal release, a magnetic relay and an arc suppression device. The switch mechanism is in a case (5) and has a helicoidal spring (16) connected to the lever (14). This mechanism can produce a high pressure between the moving contact (6), actuated by the mechanism, and the fixed contact (8) when the operating lever (14) is moved. If the mechanism is locked into position, the spring (16) will give instantaneous release and separation of the contacts (6, 8) for any overcurrent. The spring (16) will also ensure the return of the mechanism to the open-switch position.
