Abstract

The prefabricated building consists of external walls built on a metal frame of columns (4) and beams (5) joined together to form a rigid structure. It also has internal partition walls, and floors (2) with metal joints (6) and wood cross-pieces covered by wood or asbestos-cement panels with a top layer of concrete. The roof has a metal frame with wooden slats over which the roof covering is placed. The cost of construction is comparatively low because the building can be erected by unskilled labour and the various elements are easily adapted to suit individual needs.
