Abstract

A bottle for a drink has a neck with an upper area (1a) having straight sides tapering slightly from a large diameter (D) at the rim to a smaller diameter (d) further down. The lower area (1b) has a curved profile (4) forming a slightly larger in diameter (B) than a spherical ball (5) inside the bottle. The upper area is smaller than the ball diameter (T). When the bottle is filled with carbonated drink (6) the ball is compressed into the seating. A pull-off cap covers the bottle opening. For non-carbonated liquids, the ball is held in a toroidal seating inside the neck. The ball is pushed in to open.
