Abstract

A ventilation system where dangerous atmospheres must be controlled, employs a barrier for a large duct, channel members and forming a set of e.g. four openings for four doors which swing back about vertical pivot axes, under the operation of a scissor linkage over the top, actuated by a microswitch operated actuated cylinder. The doors themselves carry stiffening channels across them attached by threaded studs and adjusting nuts to the door panels, and the edges of each door panel are held against a resilient sealing strip having a square section with thin flexible lips projecting above the contact face. In one design, each door can be swung down by an operating handle extending from it.
