Abstract

1,082,671. Panelled structures. K. V. SLEE. Feb. 20, 1964 [Nov. 21. 1962], No. 44066/62. Heading E1W. In a wall panel assembly which, resists ingress of dust panels 4 Fig. 2 have flanges 7 each clamped alongside a flange 7 on an adjacent panel with a resilient sealing strip 9 compressed between them, and with a second air tight seal 58 extending across the joint between adjacent flanges where the flanges are turned away from each other at terminal flanges 57. The clamping means for the flanges 7 may comprise bolts passed through holes in the flanges or may comprise clamps 10. The seal 58 may comprise an adhesive sealing strip stuck on to the terminal flanges 57. A spaced skin formed by flanged panels 19 may be welded to the panels 4 and channel shaped cover strips 21 may be welded to the panels 19 at the joints between them. The space between the skins may be filled with insulating material. The panels may be apertured to receive glazing 33 which is secured within the apertures by resilient gasket strips 35 which also serve to locate frame members 39 and 41 between spaced skins. Corner panels 5, 28, Fig. 1 may be provided to form angle; T- and four-walled junctions. Covering strips which may be separately formed as at 44 Fig. 1, or which may form the sides of a channel may be provided along the top and bottom of the assembly and channel shaped members 49 may be provided to form service ducts along the upper and lower edges. The upper edges of the assembly may be received in an inverted channel shaped capping member.
