Abstract

A dry cleaning device includes a rotary drum in which articles are put for cleaning and which contains a solvent. To dry the articles a heated air-flow is circulated through the drum through a closed circuit including a blower and a condenser which removes excess solvent vapour from the air flow. The condenser has two parts a conventional water condenser and a refrigerated condenser using a refrigeration fluid (e.g. freon). A better re-cuperation of the solvent e.g. perchlorethylene is achieved. The water condenser and refrigerated condenser may be in series or parallel. The circuit may include a heater and a valve which direct the airflow through a side duct directly into the drum without passing through the heater.
