1363291 Drying apparatus; conditioning air SEALED MOTOR CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 28 Jan 1972 [28 Jan 1971] 3390/71 Headings F4G and F4V In a drying apparatus (similar to that described in Specification 1,363,292) in which air A drawn by a fan 5 from a drying chamber (which may be a cupboard or closet of a dwelling) is passed over the evaporator 6 of a vapour compression refrigerating plant 6-10 (to cool the air below its dew-point) and then passed together with air B over the condenser 10 (to heat the air) for return to the chamber 1, the condenser is constructed so that some of the heat it produces is ejected from the apparatus. In Fig. 1, heat is ejected by an additional part 12 of the condenser 10 integral with the wall 13. In Fig. 2, an additional part 32 of the condenser 30 is cooled by water 31 (which may be the supply to a washing machine). Wet articles are contained in a rotatable drum 22 enclosed in a housing 21a into which uniform air flow is ensured by small holes 21b and large holes 21c. In Fig. 3, the additional part 67 of the condenser 66 is outside the cabinet in a recess 68 in its side wall, and is cooled by natural or forced convection. A continuously operating auxiliary fan 70 draws air B from the air stream A and passes it over the evaporator 69 and at C back to the air stream A. In a further embodiment, the auxiliary fan cools the bearings of the main fan. (For Figures see next page.)
