Abstract

The hoist is blted to the deck of this ship near the stern and is mounted on the end of a moveable arm (7) which is pivoted about a horizontal pin near the deck. The arm (7) is actuated by a pair of rams (27). The outer end of the arm carries a wheel (15) which is grooved and carries the cable (12) of the object being raised, lowered or towed. The arm (7) may be folded backwards onto the deck when it is out of use. A storage drum is mounted on deck to handle the cable. The rams may be hydraulically or pneumatically operated.
