Abstract

A flexible tube (e.g. knitted, woven textile) is smoothed by passage through a pref. convering pressure duct and then a smoothing zone where a pressure fluid (pref. air) is directed onto pref. the outer surface of the tube through pref. an annular nozzle. Pref. downstream of the smoothing zone the tube passes through a divergent nozzle. The method is used for treating textile tubes uses as sheaths for electrical cabling. The walls of the tubes are completely smoothed out without risk of causing creases or wrinkles.
