Abstract

The compact boiler designed for improved efficiency is made from two cast iron or aluminium castings which are symmetrical about a vertical plane on the longitudinal between them, each consisting of a hollow box portion with its inner vertical face curved, forming a cavity, so that when they are bolted together, a horizontal cylindrical combustion chamber is formed between them, in which is located a burner, one end being closed by a circular plug. The upper edge is castellated, forming a set of combustion gas discharge openings between the two mating edges. Each box has an inlet and outlet hole for water circulation. The two boxes are bolted together by a set of tie rods across them, passign through lugs cast onto the casing, one each end, top and bottom.
