Abstract

The chair seat is supported on a strip (6, 7) underneath each side, each strip being fixed to a length of square section tubing (8) held centrally in a square frame (9). Through this tubing passes a single length of circular section tube which is a close fit and able to pivot. The centre section is welded to a plate under the square frame fixed to the chair foot. A square section torsion bar passes through the circular tube, being welded at one end to the circular section tube. The other end (2) has a tensioning lever under a seat strip. Movement is limited by stops on the frame contacting the fixed plate.
