Abstract

The chair is designed to tip up and for this purpose is fastened to a box which is adapted to tilt about a horizontal axle which is firmly connected to a fixed holder. The rocking motion of the chair is balanced by leaf springs which are braced against the aforesaid holder which is connected by a central column to the chair frame. The seat can be locked in extreme positions by means of a clamping device which is associated with an actuating lever. The tilt mechanism box is provided with a horizontal transverse rod which engages the leaf springs and can be adjusted relative to same by means of a manually operated setscrew which is used to alter the spring tension so that the tighter the leaf springs the greater the tilt.
