Abstract
1,265,035. Revolving chairs; resilient mountings. BRIDGE UPHOLSTERY (LEEDS) Ltd. Dec.22, 1970 [Jan. 14, 1970], No. 1803/70. Headings A4J and A4U. A revolving chair is attached to a central bearing unit by torsion bars or other means capable of flexion, thus allowing limited rocking of the chair. In the form shown in inverted sectional elevation, the lower part 1 of an armchair body has fixed to it two transverse torsion bars 2, with cranked ends, by which it is mounted on a turn-table bearing 9, 11, 8 fixed to a base 7 furnished with castors. Tilting of the chair by twisting of the torsion bars 2 is controlled by bars 15, 15a riveted or welded to the bars 2, the bar 15 supporting an abutment 20 on the chair body through a resilient pad and 15a being fixed to the chair body at 16. A resilient pad or other supporting means may be interposed between the bars 2 and the seat proper.
