A chair has an inner metallic base frame 5 of angle iron strips 16 welded together and to crossmembers 17, a unitary inner metallic seat and back rest frame 30 tiltably supported on a rod 19 welded to posts 20 of the base frame and wooden outer base and seat frames composed of strips 60, 61, 65, 66, 67 and strips 70, 71, 74. The chair may have an eccentric, electrically driven vibratory element 80 fixed to the backrest frame. Sinuous springs 37 are hooked into holes in the metallic frames.
