Abstract

Precast concrete paving slab for car parks, hard shoulders etc, is designed to provide a contiguous easily laid surface whilst allowing for thermal expansion etc, and uses abutting slab modules each with several interconnecting elements (2) of identical geometrical form, the shape of the element dictating the size and shape of the voids (4) and hence thermal characteristics. All these elements are further linked by a reinforcing grid (14). The voids (4) can be earth filled. Circular elements (2) can be used to a gothic pattern. Each module is square, having twenty circular elements, each corner element (8, 6) being enlarged with a projecting anchorage dowel (14). A hexagonal version is also shown.
